Answers to common questions regarding product features, installation, and customization options.

Why is it an advantage to have a retractable roof system?

The freedom to select an open or closed roof provides opportunity to enjoy the open sky above or to protect from sunshine and rain. This is of great benefit to the end user as a private individual at a residence or for a business to ensure continuity of use for revenue generation.

How to operate the opening and closing of the roof?

The roof can be opened or closed either manually with an extended crank handle device or by means of a concealed electric motor drive system operated by means of a remote-control device.

How long does it take to open the roof manually?

Using a manually operated system, it will take approximately 30 – 50 seconds. That’s all.

How many people does it take to operate the roof?

A manually operated system is operated by one person, easily and quickly done with a crank handle device.

Is the roof fabric waterproof?

The fabric is produced by a reputable European based manufacturer and HF welded in panels to create a perfect, waterproof membrane for the full 12-15 working years of the material.

Is the roof fabric flammable?

The manufacturer of the PVC fabric has developed over many years, a fabric that is tested according to European fire code standards and regulations to ensure that it does not propagate flame and self extinguishes in the case of fire exposure. Yes, it is safe.

What is the working life of the fabric?

Experience with the fabric has demonstrated that it remains in good working order for 10 – 12 years. Replacing is simple and quick extending for another equivalent period of time. That’s good value. That’s good ROI.

How to clean the fabric roof?

The underside can be wiped down with a soft cloth using an alkaline based cleaning agent to remove any surface dirt that might collect over time. The top is best flushed with water or blown air to remove loose debris that collects from surrounding trees. Done regularly keeps the roof looking good for its full working life.

Does the system require maintenance?

Yes it certainly does as a mechanically operating system. An annual service that takes a few hours will keep the components aligned, lubricated and working well for ease of daily operations. Like any machine, it needs a small amount of care.

Can components in the system be replaced or repaired?

The system has been developed as a series of simple parts with the intention that it is robust in operation. Should any part fail, it can be replaced with minimal effort getting the roof back in operation within a short period of time. Parts can be ordered and we recommend keeping a small amount of spares to reduce down time of the system.
